BBS Bank MD Pius Komane Molefe urges Moselewapula CJSS parents to support students

Mr. Molefe was speaking at the Moselewapula Community Junior Secondary School Prize Giving Ceremony in Gaborone on Tuesday 24 September 2013. He stated that “a significant number of parents do not take an active interest in the educational pursuits of their children and only do so when a child has not done well”.

He also said that Prize Giving events were not only for those being recognized for their effort but for the other students to reflect on their own performances and commit to doing better in future. Mr. Molefe, however, commended Moselewapula CJSS for having attained a pass mark of 98.2% in the 2012 Junior Certificate Examinations, a sign that significant effort was being made to ensure that students do well.

The Head Teacher Ms. B.T.N. Rauwe stated that for the past 10 years the transition rate of Moselewapula CJSS students to senior secondary school has been ranging between 82% and 92%. She, nonetheless, added that it was important to ensure that those who do not proceed to senior secondary school are assisted to pursue other forms of education.

For his part, the Parents Teachers Association Chairman Mr. D. Kgosi also expressed concern about the low turnout of parents at the event and others intended to advance the school. He urged students to focus on their studies and avoid distractions which could affect their performance.

Still at the event, BBS Bank donated P15, 000.00 to Moselewapula CJSS.
