Following a request by Molapowabojang Primary School Head Ms. Cecilia Tshamekang for the school to be assisted with new ablution facilities and for the existing ones to be refurbished, BBS Bank is pleased to indicate that works will commence during the middle of this month. The project will include ablution facilities and a kitchen for teachers and is estimated to cost P323, 000.00. A local contractor, First Point Group (Pty) Ltd has been engaged while another citizen owned firm Arcswana Architects (Pty) led by its Managing Director Mr. Moatswi Sekonopo, provided architectural services at no cost.

A site visit by BBS Bank officials had indeed confirmed that the ablution facilities used by pupils, mainly pit latrines dating back to the 1960s when the school was established, posed both a health and safety risk. The same ablution facilities are also used by teachers. One of the ablutions to be built by the Staff Room will cater for disabled pupils as those for their able bodied counterparts are located quite a distance from the classrooms.

While there is a newer block of ablution facilities for pupils, it is not in use due to incorrect configuration of water services and toilet features. Therefore, a new water system will be installed and toilets reconfigured so that they are more suited to pupils of all grades. Speaking on the project, Ms. Tshamekang said that “this is an exciting development which will improve hygiene especially for students”.

For his part, the BBS Bank Managing Director Mr. Pius Molefe said that it was necessary for BBS Bank to assist in order to ensure that learners and their teachers operate in a conducive environment. The project is expected to be completed in June 2018.

Thank you.
