BBS Donates P 15,000 to Gweta Flood Victims

Botswana Building Society (BBS) has made a donation of P15, 000 to Gweta residents following floods that recently hit the area. The donation was handed over by the BBS Chief Executive Mr Pius Molefe to the Tutume Sub-District Council  at  the Gweta main Kgotla  this week, 11 February 2008.

At the ceremony, Mr Molefe said that on learning about the devastating impact of  the  floods in the Gweta area, BBS immediately decided to offer assistance. He stated that BBS is a Botswana company which was started by Batswana, with the support of the Botswana Government, thus it should inevitably reciprocate the support by assisting members of the community who are in need.

For his part, Gweta Chief’s Representative Kgosi Baatholeng thanked BBS on behalf of the people of Gweta adding that the company had lived up to the national Vision 2016 pillar of being compassionate. He said that the Tutume Sub-District Council, represented at the ceremony by the Assistant Council Secretary Mr Selatolo, was trying its best to alleviate the situation but needed whatever help it could get from organisations such as BBS.

The Councillor for Gweta West Mr Moses Budulala, whose area of responsibility was the worst affected, stated that the donation would be of immense assistance to many families who lost clothing and food items as a result of the floods.

The BBS Chief Executive was accompanied by the Head of Corporate Affairs Mr Sipho Showa and the BBS Maun Branch Manager Ms Babedi Motsatsi.
