Botswana Building Society recently donated P20 000 to the Botswana Retired Nurses Society (BORNUS) in Tlokweng. When making the donation, the Deputy Chief Executive Mr. James Moribame stated that BBS was heartened by the continued involvement of the retired nurses in health care through the support they are giving to those affected by HIV and AIDS. He commended the retired nurses and other volunteers for their commitment to the project. BORNUS is an Non-Governmental Organisation which was established in 2003. It presently runs a Community Relief Day Care Centre for the sick in Tlokweng and has over 300 registered people that it assists. Its main goal is to provide comprehensive quality health care and support to the ill including those living with HIV/AIDS as well as orphans, vulnerable children and care-givers who are elderly. In addition, the Centre helps to relieve the burden of care on care–givers and the affected families. The P20 000 donation is a contribution towards the fund for the construction of a BORNUS multi purpose hall. In her remarks, the BORNUS Board Chairperson, Mrs. Isabella Magetse, thanked BBS for its support noting it had put into practice the national Vision 2016 pillar of contributing towards a compassionate, just and caring nation. |
