BBS Donates P15,000 to the Botswana Football Association Development Appeal Fund

Following the launch of the Botswana Football Association’s Fund to raise money for the growth of football in the country, Botswana Building Society (BBS) has donated a sum of P15, 000 towards the initiative.

Commenting on the donation, the BBS Chief Executive Pius Molefe said that it was necessary that the Society, as an indigenous financial institution which was developed by Batswana, contribute towards another national effort, one whose results would further contribute to the development of youth.

He added that he was confident that the contribution would not be in vain as local football results, especially at international level, have shown that Botswana was progressing impressively. Mr Molefe further stated that funds raised will hopefully also stimulate the establishment of a professional league because football is a business which, if it is to thrive, must be administered effectively with the necessary support structures. He said that he hoped that Trustees of the Football Development Appeal will ensure that human and financial resources are managed efficiently to uplift the standard of football in the country.

Mr Molefe encouraged the private sector to assist the Botswana Football Association in its effort to raise playing and coaching standards in order to support the future success of our local and national football teams.
